Dear Friend,
On Thursday, October 12 at 3 pm Eastern /
2 pm Central / 1 pm
Mountain / 12 noon Pacific time,
the Climate Reality Check team will hold the latest in our series of
national conference calls to help strengthen community organizing on
climate, entitled:
#CoverClimate: Advocating for Accurate and Abundant Climate Reporting
Join Susan Joy Hassol of Climate Communication who will lead a discussion on how to communicate climate science to the media
and in our advocacy and David Arkush of Public Citizen who will talk about a new campaign to improve national and local climate coverage.
Coverage of the global climate crisis is on
the decline - media reports on the crisis are too few; fail to connect
extreme weather events to a warming planet; and still perpetuate
debunked and discredited denialist claims.
The bottom line is: we can’t fix the climate crisis if we are not talking about it - and talking about it accurately and A LOT.
Our esteemed presenters will:
·
Translate climate science associated with extreme weather events into language we can use;
·
Model good climate communications: clear, often, through story;
·
Provide analysis on climate coverage in the media;
·
Brief on a new project to improve climate reporting; and
·
Share ways to get involved!
Talk to you soon!
